Backup & Sync

Keep your SN Utils settings, scripts, and snippets safe with cloud backups and sync across all your devices.

Storage Limits

LimitAmount
Max backup size5 MB per backup
Total storage50 MB
Max backups20

Most users never hit these limits. A typical full backup is only 2-10 KB.

Sync Across Devices

Backups enable seamless device switching:

  1. Work Computer — Make changes, they're backed up
  2. Home Computer — Restore latest backup, same setup
  3. New Laptop — Activate extension, restore backup, ready to go

Best Practices

Regular Backups

  • Create a backup before making major changes
  • Name backups descriptively: "Before dark theme switch"
  • Keep 2-3 recent full backups

Organizing Backups

  • Use the backup name field to identify versions
  • Delete old backups you won't need
  • Use type-specific backups for partial restores

Troubleshooting

Backup Failed

If backup creation fails:

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Verify your license is active
  3. Check if you've hit storage limits
  4. Try a smaller backup (e.g., settings only)

Restore Not Working

If settings don't apply after restore:

  1. Refresh all open ServiceNow pages
  2. Check the extension popup for errors
  3. Try restoring again
  4. Contact support if issues persist

"Storage Quota Exceeded"

You've hit the 50 MB total limit:

  1. Go to your backup list
  2. Delete old or unnecessary backups
  3. Try creating your backup again

Privacy & Security

  • Encrypted storage — Backups are stored securely in the cloud
  • Your data only — Only you can access your backups
  • No sensitive data — Backups contain settings, not passwords or tokens
  • Delete anytime — Remove any backup permanently
