Tab Markers

Heavy ServiceNow work means many browser tabs — often across several instances — and after a few switches it's easy to lose track of which tab you were just on. Tab Markers solve this by prefixing the title of your recently used ServiceNow tabs with a small glyph: the tab you came from gets 1️⃣, the one before that 2️⃣, and so on.

Because the glyph is the first character of the title, it stays visible even when tabs are squeezed narrow — exactly the situation where you need it most.

How It Works

• When you switch away from a ServiceNow tab, it gets the 1️⃣ marker.
• Switch again and the trail shifts: the newest previous tab becomes 1️⃣, the older one 2️⃣, up to the configured depth.
• When you switch back to a marked tab, its marker is cleared — the active tab never carries one.
• The trail is tracked per browser window, and only ServiceNow tabs participate. Other websites are never touched.

Jump Back with /back

Type /back in the slash command popup to instantly activate the tab marked 1️⃣ — the tab you were on before this one. Marking helps you find the previous tab; /back removes the search entirely.

Configuration

Configure the marker depth in Settings → Enduser Preferences → Tab Markers (/settings):

The default is Previous tab only — it answers the most common question ("where was I just now?") with minimal visual movement. Enable a deeper trail if you want the full recent-tab history at a glance.
